Why are the social sciences less respected than the conventional sciences?

They are doing a degree in social sciences, and this is what I realized.

  1. Hails! says:

Social sciences are less respected and valued than conventional sciences because conventional sciences improve technology which contributes to the economy in a very capitalist/money generating way – where as social sciences do not (or not nearly as fast).

Our capitalist society emphasizes technology and money – therefore biochemistry (think drugs), engineering (think property and building), physics (think space travel and research), etc. are primary go-getters.
